Switching to Steel in South Australia

The popularity of steel house framing continues to grow across South Australia, with Hamra Homes being the latest convert to BlueScope Steel's blue coloured TRUECORE® steel, which it will now use for the framing of all its buildings.
Because of its ease of use, its strength and its minimal wastage onsite, South Australian builders have been quick to adopt framing made from TRUECORE® steel, as have homeowners themselves because of its durability, its termite resistance and the design flexibility it offers.
Hamra Homes' latest project, Winzor Retirement Estate located in Salisbury, features 47 homes all with house frames made from TRUECORE® steel and roofing made from COLORBOND® steel.
The one level homes are located within an exclusive estate community with a fully functional community centre and landscaped grounds to provide privacy and independence.
The steel frames, assembled and installed by Steel Building Systems, were chosen for the development as they are durable, lightweight and arrive on site precision engineered to the exact specification required making them easy to install with little wastage.
Sam Hamra, Managing Director for Hamra Homes, explains: "We made the switch to using steel frames about six months ago and now all of our properties are 100% steel framed. We find framing made from TRUECORE® steel much quicker and easier to use as it arrives on site ready made, therefore saving time and leaving minimal wastage at the end of construction.
